The guys over at Pinboard caught up with The God Mustaffa A.K.A. Melo-X a few months back whilst on his London tour. Melo-X talks about his influences, his album Mustafa’s Renaissance, Dilla, his favourite MC’s and more.
Reuben Margolin loved geometry as a student and went on to study classical painting. The combination of these two disciplines resulted in his creation of moving sculptures. His giant dynamic sculptures are formed from moving parts made out of discarded materials like wood, string, cardboard, even a pieces of old gym equipment.

Southern Hip Hop is changing and B.o.B. is one of it’s main influencers. Not settling with just rapping he also plays guitar and sings (who needs autotune when you have real talent). Shepard Fairey, a street artist most known for the worldwide Obey Giant campaign was arrested last week on his way to DJ at an event to promote his “Supply and Demand” exhibition at The Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston. Fairey with his Obama Hope posters may have recently gained worldwide exposure, but even more impressingly has been shown support from Obama’s own PR personnel. One display at the current exhibition includes a typed letter from “Obama” that reads, “I am privileged to be a part of your art work and proud to have your support”. Perhaps the new President will be able to waive Fairey’s two outstanding warrants which were issued for tagging and graffiti in the Boston area.

A new video has been released documenting what the public think of the infamously masked street artist Banksy. Some well informed opinions but also some really wacky ideas in the mix.
He was homeless from Los Angeles and late last year he showed up behind the HVW8 gallery proceeded to beatbox/sing his original composition of “I Should Tell Your Mama On You”.
