On the day you’ll see live painting, skaters (they’ve built a halfpipe), fashion shows and cinema screenings. Music being provided by the people at Real Hip Hop in London and if you get hungry they’ll be food from Japan to Jamaica.
The Secret Wars UK Final took place 21 March 2009. The favourite to win Reeps took on Hicks in a Secret Wars battle which kicked off around 10:30pm. The crowd stood in awe as the two artists battled it out on the large white walls. Watch the video to see who took home the £1000 cheque and crowned UK champ.
Secret Wars has taken live art global. The competition places two artists infront of a 20ft white wall. Arming them with only creativity and black paint (no pencils or sketches allowed) the artists have 90 minutes to apply their inventive flair onto the wall. No themes or directions are given but artists are encouraged to woo the crowds and intimidate their opponents. Like in any MC, DJ or dance battle, key criteria are originality, style, context and improvisation. Boasting their talent contestants must win over two judges with a decisive decibel reading from the supporting crowd to seal the deal.
