Kahn [Punch Drunk/Sure Skank] mix for Sonic Router

Kahn (Punch Drunk)

Kahn has been seeing a fair amount of recognition after dropping a 12″ on Peverelist’s Punch Drunk label last month. Part of the Bristol sound alongside names such as Gemmy, Superisk and Vessel, he makes up a valued part of the Sure Skank collective. This dance-floor focused tracklist covers quite a but of ground and showcases Kahn’s versatility within the 140 spectrum. Read more about him in Sonic Router’s interview.

Hyetal and Shortstuff come together to kick off an exciting year of releases coming from Bristol’s Punch Drunk record label. This 12″ is the label’s first collaborative release, whilst it also welcomes an out of town producer, Shortstuff from Hertforshire. Ice Cream (no it isn’t buffering, let it play) and Don’t Sleep are well worth adding to the crate for 2010.

A new bit has popped up outside the Banksy Versus Bristol Museum show. Ronald McDonald sits precariously on a ledge with a bottle of whisky as his only companion. Spot the usually happy clown above the entrance as you head into the museum.

Banksy’s Secret Bristol Project Revealed

Banksy, quiet of late, has just unveiled his most extensive project to date. Banksy’s creative vandalism now ironically inhabits the council-owned City Museum and Art Gallery in Bristol. Keeping the project under wraps, staff and passers by were told that the museum had been closed for filming. The exhibition is free to view throughout summer and features animatronics, installations and a sensory display.

Bristol Council Paints Over Legal Street Piece

The work carried out by Cheo and 3Dom was organised by the People’s Republic Of Stokes Croft. With permission being granted by the property’s owner the piece was put together to promote Stokes Croft as an outdoor gallery. To prevent any issues the council were informed of the new legal mural, yet days later the piece was painted over. This of course angered those involved as well as many street art fans across Bristol. The space is now evolving into something more, opening discussion on the council’s graffiti policies.

Dubstep Documentary – Living Inside the Speaker

An informative Dubstep documentary, created two years ago by Mike and Mark of the Mashup Mafia Living Inside the Speaker has recently been released for free download. Being somewhat Bristol-centric it features words from Pinch, Peverelist and HENCH Crew as well as Skream plus others. It is well recommended that you take some time to watch this one.

Justice Exhibition in Bristol Police Station

A crew of street artists, Least Wanted (USA), C215 (France) Dan23 (France), MC1984 and Bruno Leyval (France), have put together a show at The Long Arm Gallery in Bristol. The JUSTICE exhibition has been grabbing people’s attention with themes of Law and Order. The show includes specific installations, photography, prints, and stencils, all set in the Old Bridewell Police Station’s cells.
