North/South/East/West is a new project from photographer Shaun Bloodworth, designer Stuart Hammersley and Bleep.com. A photographic and musical document focusing on the music of four different regions of the world — North and South UK and East and West coast USA.
Hyetal and Shortstuff come together to kick off an exciting year of releases coming from Bristol’s Punch Drunk record label. This 12″ is the label’s first collaborative release, whilst it also welcomes an out of town producer, Shortstuff from Hertforshire. Ice Cream (no it isn’t buffering, let it play) and Don’t Sleep are well worth adding to the crate for 2010.
The slightly trippy video is in promotion of Mary Anne Hobbs’ forthcoming compilation, Wild Angels. The BBC Radio 1 host has once again put together a great selection of bass driven music, but expect a substantial serving of Dubstep on this one. Released via Planet Mu on 7 September, in the meantime you can check out the tracklist over the jump.
Kode 9, Hyperdub’s founder, speaks about the “branching out” of music from the Dubstep scene in the past year.
