Rich Mix and Havana Club are collaborating to present the Havana Club Wall Project. The Project is an art competition that will allow emerging talents to gain exposure in one of East London’s cultural hotspots. The twelve-month project includes three commissions launched by three live events, hosted in conjunction with the start of Rich Mix’s new seasons.
Tonight Remi/Rough is launching the Havana Club Wall Project with his interpretation and vision of the values that make Havana so unique. The Wall Project is then open as a competition to encourage amateur or professional artists to submit their interpretation of the true values of Havana.
Entries can be submitted by e-mail to visualarts@richmix.co.uk, a selection will be posted on the Havana Club UK and Rich Mix facebook page to invite public feedback and final judging will be made by a panel led by Remi/Rough.

The ability to add layers to the loop allows for some interesting results. Now in version 2, you can also easily switch between modes of play by rotating the iPad.
VICE pay homage to their glorious past with their latest book entitled, THE WORLD ACCORDING TO VICE. The 26 x 20 cm hardcover book looks into the eclectic past of VICE and offer a retrospective look into how the Montreal-founded fanzine has now developed into a global multimedia empire. The book released a few days ago is available to buy from Amazon.
Jaimie D’ Cruz, the producer of Banksy’s documentary Exit Through The Gift Shop, and Chris King, the film’s editor, sat down with David Poland of Movie City News for an extended interview. For the first time ever, Jamie and David provide behind-the-scenes information and anecdotes about the the film. David Choe and DVS are in town and have been killing it down Leake Street. They’ve been busy in preparation for the Lazarides Gallery Hell’s Half Acre pop-up show launching 12 October. A huge roster of artists will turn the labyrinth of tunnels beneath Waterloo station into a large-scale evocation of Dante’s Inferno. Visitors will explore a unique interpretation of the nine circles of hell. It’s all free but you’ll have to book ahead.
Sole Heaven’s second instalment of their Kicks N Mixtapes series comes from the legendary Goldie. If you’re not familiar with the concept, Sole Heaven are asking DJ’s to create exclusive mixes and sending them out alongside a Kicks interview. Also check out Kicks N Canvas; another Sole Heaven project from a few months back.
The What Is Music? project’s goal is to express the notion of music at a personal level, with contributors being asked the question, “what is music?”. Talent from across London’s diverse urban music culture have contributed through featuring in interviews, recording exclusive influences mixes and also creating one off art pieces. What Is Music? was made in association with 4Talent and will continue to grow to produce an evolving collage of expression for London’s ever-changing music scene.
Mark Webber started his Where in the world City Map series in 2006, creating pieces of New York, Amsterdam, Paris and of course London. He put together this London city map as part of Courvoisier’s Revolutionary Spirit campaign and we’ve got one of these exclusive prints to give away.
