Street Fest promised to be a “new breed of festival… promoting and merging creative talents”. It did exactly that by putting skaters, artists, fashion designers and a surprisingly loud sound system all under one roof, producing an aura of creativity rooted in true Hip Hop culture.

The Californian pop artist Jeff Soto is in town with his first ever UK show. Soto’s style is inspired by science fiction, childhood toys, the colourful lifestyle of skateboarding and graffiti, hip-hop and popular culture. The Inland Empire exhibition at Stolen Space features over 20 new wood panel paintings, focusing on the theme of recession in the area in which Soto lives and how it reflects what is happening the world over, open to view until 7 June 2009.

The compilation of Busta’s latest studio work underwent a few names changes, “Back on My Bullshit”, “Blessed”, and “B.O.M.B.”, the execs finally settling for “Back on my B.S.”. The rap veteran with automatic firearm flows, Busta Rhymes, loads 19 tracks into the clip for his eighth album. Most of the tracks have already been leaked so we base judgement on what we have heard so far.

During 2008 we saw the closing of Turnmills, Canvas, The Cross and The Key. Undergoing a programme change Heaven will no longer be welcoming Hospitality. A bitter closure with the last event being cancelled leaving Hospital high and dry. At the end of this month The End will join the rubble which is London’s clubbing past. DnB residencies, Shogun Audio, Marky & Friends, Swerve, Ram Records and Renegade Hardware, all in need of a new home worthy of holding their legendary nights.
