Interview with George Louch from Silas London, plus t-shirt Giveaway!

Silas, London, UK store

Just before the Silas UK launch tomorrow (29th September) we got in touch with George Louch who runs the store as well as distribution for Silas in the UK.

Silas have also kindly given us some T-shirts to give away so if you want one just tweet your size @nerdbanite with #SilasNerd or email us at info@nerdbanite.com

Please introduce yourself and let us know how you got involved with Silas.

My name’s George Louch, I run the UK store and look after the distribution for Silas in the UK. I’ve worked with brands such as aNYthing, Penfield and Edwin previously and eventually met the guys from Silas earlier this year and we went from there.

What would you say is at the core of what Silas is about?

Essentially it’s a grown up skate brand. It’s still the same brand it was before the transition of ownership in 2007. We all love skateboarding, music and nice clothes and feel that that’s what is represented by Silas as a brand.

What made you choose to locate the new store in Islington?

We wanted to be different, to branch out and find ourselves our own little corner of London rather than setting up in Shoreditch for example, with everybody else.

Are there any plans for more stores in the UK?

In the future yes, at this moment in time no.

Now that you’re getting more settled, where are you guys getting your eat on? Just in case we get hungry after visiting the store.

There’s a fantastic little Italian deli on Cross St. Sells Parma ham Panini’s, olives and all the different flavours of San Pellegrino you could ever want!

We hear there’s a store launch party on the horizon. What should we expect to see?

Yeah, Thursday 29th September, everybody is welcome to come and celebrate our arrival back on familiar shores. We’ve got Pete Fowler displaying his latest pieces of work on the walls and the shop will be open and selling to the public. We’ve also got some free alcohol, I know that’s a deal breaker for some people.

How did you guys get involved with Pete Fowler?

He’s an old friend of the brand, we help each other out.

You did a recent collab with London’s Slam City Skates. Are there any more collabs in the pipeline?

Loads! We’ve got collabs with Snugpak, G-Shock, Rain Cheetah, Dickies and a few more which we’ll leave as a surprise. We’ve got loads going on at the moment.

What other brands/people do you really want to work with?

James Jarvis. Or if he’s not really up for it then maybe Palace, we know the guys and we’d love to do something with them.
